Usher in the Christmas Season with Glory of Christmas

Many in the Lakeland area consider First Presbyterian Church’s (FPC) annual Glory of Christmas concert to be the unofficial start of the Christmas season. The church will present the 15th annual Glory of Christmas concert on Monday, Dec. 2 at 7 pm in the FPC Sanctuary.

“I’m excited for this year’s concert,” says Sam Carlton, Classic Worship Arts Director. “This is my full vision. We have a theme for the concert, and I want the audience to go on a journey with us.”

This year, for the first time, the concert will be live streamed. You may watch live via the church’s website (www.fpclakeland.org), Facebook page, or YouTube channel.

Under Carlton’s direction, the concert will feature a magnificent string orchestra, a choir of more than 40 voices, and acclaimed guest soloists, Dr. Jennifer Voigt, soprano, and Neil Sherouse, baritone. Voigt is FPC’s Modern Worship Arts Director.

“Together, we will journey from darkness to light,” Carlton says, “bringing to life the timeless music of the Christmas season. We aspire to fill the sanctuary with the beauty, joy, and hope of Christmas.”

“The choir is featured this year,” Carlton says. “They will be singing 10 songs and leading the audience in more congregational singing.”

The concert is free, and all are invited. Be sure to arrive a few minutes early as the space is always full for this event.

“Don’t miss this inspiring evening as we gather to celebrate the Christmas season by welcoming the light of Christ into our hearts and homes,” Carlton says.

Funding for the concert is provided by the Glen W. And Hazelle Paxson Morrison Foundation.

While the concert begins at 7 pm, doors will open at 6 pm. There will be limited wheelchair seating available.
