Embark on a Journey of Generosity
First Presbyterian Church strives to be a wise and responsible steward of the gifts and resources God has provided.
Giving is a vital part of worship
Stewardship centers on giving one’s self to God in Christ and reorienting one’s life around the Lord and his Word. God must come first in our lives, and his priorities need to become our priorities. The Bible speaks of being good stewards. A steward is grateful to God for all his good gifts, and therefore, is willing to give back to God a portion of his or her income to support the Lord’s work.
In 2 Corinthians, Chapter 9, Paul writes to believers to, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
Members are encouraged to pledge their offerings each year and make a commitment. Giving is in response to God’s grace. It shows our trust in Him. At First Presbyterian Church, we embark on a journey of generosity.
We’re excited to share that the donation form now includes an optional memo line feature! Donors can add a short note to their gift—such as “In memory of…” or any other brief intention.
Moments for Impact
Ways in which the support, volunteering, giving, and prayers of our congregation is building the kingdom of God. Because of your generosity, we are having a positive impact on our church, community, and world in the name of Jesus Christ.
ACTS 2 FUND
The Acts 2 Fund is based on the principles of Acts 2. In Acts 2:44-45, we read these words about the early church in Jerusalem, “And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.”
That example echoes to us today, and so the Acts 2 Fund is designed to help ensure the financial well-being of congregants at FPC by providing limited resources to those who need assistance to bridge temporary shortfalls. Recipients of help do not receive cash but submit their bills to us, and we pay them directly. They may also receive Publix gift cards with access limited to direct grocery items.
This fund is mostly resourced through directed gifts by individuals. You can help make sure your brothers and sisters in Christ keep their lights on, stay ahead of their rent, or have the basics to provide for their families.
How You Can Help the Acts 2 Fund
Please consider making an “above and beyond” offering to the Acts 2 Fund this week by either writing a check to FPC Lakeland with “Acts 2 Fund” in the Memo line or by using the links on our website or the Church Center app.
