Each year, on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, people around the country observe Giving Tuesday. Begun in 2012, Giving Tuesday was created for the purposes of combatting the commercialism of the previous Black Friday.
On this Giving Tuesday, we are presenting our congregation and community ways that they can participate in the spirit of the day by supporting our community.
Sponsor a VBS Student
Each summer, hundreds of children spend a week with us at FPC learning about Jesus, singing, playing, and making friends. We treasure the VBS weeks that we spend with these children. The church charges a nominal fee, and we would love for you to sponsor a child (or several, as you are able). Donated funds will be given as scholarships to students who might not be able to afford to attend otherwise. VBS is $40 per child, but we encourage you to give whatever amount you are able.
Help a Student to Attend Montreat
Our LightShine youth choir attends the Presbyterian Association of Musicians Worship and Music Conference in Montreat, NC. Students have an almost $900 expense to attend (fundraisers throughout the year assist in reducing this amount for the students), with approximately $300 of that being for registration. We would love for you to donate to help these students continue their musical education.Ā
Church hymnals have a typical lifecycle of 25 years, and we are preparing to get new hymnals for the church. Individuals can purchase a new hymnal for $25 for a standard hymnal and $35 for large print. With each purchase, you have the opportunity to dedicate that hymnal in memory or honor of someone special. A nameplate will be included in the hymnal with your dedication.
