Performing Arts Series

Each year, First Presbyterian Church features a number of special concerts and programs in which instrumentalists, choirs and other artists share the talents with which God has blessed them.

We invite everyone to join us for these special events. These are opportunities for our congregation and the community to come together to enjoy the arts. Mark your calendars and plan to bring a friend.

The Glory of Christmas

This annual event is a community tradition, serving to welcome in the Christmas holiday for many in our area. Our Chancel Choir will join with special guest musicians to make this a night to remember.

Roberts Chorale (Roberts Wesleyan College) from Rochester, New York

Sunday, January 19 @ 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary – No admission fee. A free will offering will be taken.

The Roberts Chorale is Roberts Wesleyan College’s premier vocal ensemble, devoted to the study and performance of high-quality choral music from diverse styles, musical eras, languages, and cultures. Bonded by a passion for compelling musical performance and a desire for meaningful Christian fellowship, the Chorale is an ensemble of talented singer-artists who combine their gifts to cultivate excellence in choral singing.

Friday, March 20 @ 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary – Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students. All proceeds will be donated to Parker Street Ministries, an FPC mission partner.

One of the most beloved of Antonio Vivaldi’s compositions, Gloria in D Major RV 589, written around 1715, will be paired with British composer John Rutter’s ambitious Gloria, composed in 1974, for presentation in a marvelous evening of choral music that spans the centuries. The combined choirs of First Presbyterian Church will join with the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers of Florida Southern College, and the Chamber Singers from Southeastern University, along with strings and brass.

Ringing His Praises

This annual event will feature the handbell choirs of First Presbyterian Church. After the concert, as always, audience members will have the opportunity to play the bells themselves in the “handbell petting zoo” under the guidance of our handbell experts.
