In the next few weeks, we will be highlighting the artistic abilities of the youth in our church through our annual youth talent show, Strawberry Smash. We also have the opportunity to host the Stetson University Concert Choir and to hear them perform in our Sanctuary through the FPC Performing Arts Series.
Bringing quality fine arts performances to the Central Florida area is something the church endeavors to do through the Performing Arts Series, Dr. Daniel Gordon, FPC Director of Fine Arts Ministries has said about the Series.
Strawberry Smash provides an evening of delightful entertainment and delicious strawberry shortcake.
This year, the event will be held on Sunday, March 5 at 6 p.m. in Loudon Hall. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.
“Come watch our students present a show that will remind you of an old-fashioned variety show that will include everything from musical acts to a martial arts demonstration,” says Gordon.
Strawberry Smash is a fundraiser to support the FPC students involved in LightShine (a youth choir) in their efforts to raise money to attend Montreat, a summer fine arts camp.
“This is a guaranteed evening of frivolity,” Gordon says.
Tickets for Strawberry Smash are available at the door the night of the event or in the Welcome Center on Sunday mornings.
As part of our Performing Arts Series, the Stetson University Concert Choir will perform in the Sanctuary on Tuesday, March 7 at 7 p.m.
The performance will feature repertoire including works by J.S. Bach, Scarlatti, Russian Composer Alexander Gretchaninoff, and the French “Messe” by Frank Martin.
Additional pieces will include favorite folk melodies and hymns from the sacred church tradition. Tickets are $6 (adults) and $4 (students). Tickets may be purchased online or in the church office.
