Reopening FAQs

Reopening FAQs

When will the church reopen for in-person worship?
Sunday, August 30

What times will services be offered?
Traditional Classic worship will be at 9:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Contemporary Vine worship will be at 10:30 a.m. in Loudon Hall. These are the same times our online services have been, and we do not anticipate a large enough crowd to necessitate two Classic services.

What will seating look like?
Socially distanced seating areas have been designated for you and your family. For the sanctuary, attendees will sit in pew sections that have not been have taped off. For Loudon Hall, the room will be set for social distancing.

Will the nursery be open during in-person church?
The nursery will be open.

Will Children’s Ministry have classes during in-person church?
Children’s Ministry will offer both in-person and online options for children on Sunday morning. Please contact Jo jahearn@fpclakeland.org for more information.

Will classes now be meeting in person?
At this point, most classes are continuing online. Please contact your class leader for information about your specific class.

What extra cleaning precautions is the church taking?
The custodial staff has continued to clean and disinfect the church and offices throughout the pandemic, including an emphasis on sanitizing high-touch surfaces. This will continue during the reopening phase.

Will masks be required?
The church falls within the city limits and therefore guests must wear a mask when entering and walking through the building. Masks can be removed upon being seated and socially distanced.

Will there be singing during worship services?
Yes. If you are concerned about singing in enclosed spaces, please feel no specific obligation to sing the hymns, songs, or responses, as much can be gained by listening to the music and reflecting on the text. If you do choose to sing, we recommend that you wear a mask while singing and be extremely cognizant of social distancing.

Will online worship still be offered for those not comfortable or able to return to in-person worship?
Yes! You can continue to the view the services on the church website, Facebook, YouTube, and Roku. The traditional Classic service is available at 9:00, and the contemporary Vine service livestream is at 10:30 a.m.
