We have a well-stocked library with over 10,000 books, 800 videos/DVDs, and books on tape. Selections for adults, teens and children can be found. Our library is staffed by volunteers and is open at specific hours during the week as well as on Sunday morning, before and after worship.
Beginning in 2004 with a computer donation, we had a dream to automate checkouts in the First Presbyterian Library. This has now been accomplished with the help of many faithful volunteers under the direction of Carol Taylor and Janet Snapp, volunteer librarian. Dr. Bob Williams, Dawn Blanchard, Kim Manske, and Dr. Jerry Crane have been volunteering this past year cataloging the items that we already have in the library.
We are proud to announce that we are ready for everyone to come checkout using the computer system. During the month of September we will donate $1.00 to FPC Missions for each family checkout! This will be a wonderful way to dedicate this new use of our beautiful library.
Here are some facts:
• We have 8,300 items listed in the computer.
• These have at least a value of $109,000!
• Almost all of the items in the library have been through donations from the congregation.
We give to other agencies the items that we cannot use.
The library has no FPC budget and has appreciated memorial donations.
Volunteers give faithfully of their time on Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. More volunteers are always welcome so that we can be “open” at more times.
